FAQ about refuse pick up:

What is my limit for trash items? Five items of acceptable refuse

What is acceptable normal refuse? Refuse generated by homeowners, NOT contractors.

What are the requirements and limits of collection?

Items should not be over 70 pounds or more than 30 gallons in capacity and shall be watertight. Yard waste is acceptable and must follow the bagging criteria noted:

Each item will count in your 5-item limit
• All brush shall be securely tied in bundles, not to exceed 20 pounds with the exception of Christmas trees.

Is there a time when I can discard an item larger than your stated limit?

Yes. According to the contract the Town of Brant has with Bestway Container Services, LLC:

"The Contractor shall collect, haul and dispose of all Yard Wastes, Bulky Wastes and Construction and Demolotion Debris and shall collect, haul and recycle (process) all White Goods (Appliances) collected in the Town and Village from all eligible residential, institutional, commercial and business establishments as part of the Contractor's service.

All Yard Wastes, Bulky and Construction and Demolition Debris shall be hauled and disposed at a permitted Solid Waste Management Facility. All White Goods shall be hauled and recycled (processed) in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations of the State of New York at a Permitted Solid Waste Management Facility. As long as a certified handler for the appliances containing CFC's remains available, the Contractor shall remove these items during the Bulky Waste Collection.

The Maximum amount of Yard Wastes, Bulky Wastes, Construction and Demolition Debris and White Goods which shall be permitted for each weekly collection, per stop shall be ONE (1) White Good AND ONE (1) Container or Bundle of Yard Wastes, Bulky Wastes, Construction and Demolition Debris. NOTE: The Bid Page provides for an alternative response which would provide for Monthly, rather than weekly collection of White Goods and Bulky Wastes."

How Many items may we discard each week:  5 items (you may put out ONE large item out for pickup, but must remove one of your smaller items) Therefore, no more than 5 items.

Is the recycle bin picked up weekly on the same day? Yes, your recycle bin should be outside with your normal trash
